PCSO Liam Palmer, of your local Vale police team, answers questions:
Q: HOW BIG AN AREA DO THE VALE POLICE TEAM COVER, AND WHAT ARE THE MAIN POLICING CONCERNS ?
The Vale Beat covers around 120 square miles and 38 villages in total, and is the Rural North Beat of Melton Mowbray Local Policing Unit. The Vale comes under the umbrella of the Eastern Counties Neighbourhood Policing Area, which covers 57.5% of the entire Force area for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The crime rate for the Vale is at a five year low, seeing a reduction of 35%. This is also the story for ASB in the Vale, with us actively managing fewer cases than this time two years ago. This is down to community assistance and greater communication with your Police Team, as well as Police working closely with partner agencies to reduce persistent problems.
The greatest policing concern that continues to be raised at consultation events in the Vale is … Speeding.
We are actively working to set up Speed Enforcement days. We have had success at Waltham on the Wolds and Normanton, where Traffic Offence Reports have been issued to offenders, resulting in fines and in some cases a court appearance.
If anyone has questions or concerns that they wish to raise, please email me at liam.palmer@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk or call 101 and when prompted ask to leave a voicemail for 6016.
Remember, concerns that we don’t know of – we can’t act on.
